LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky football staff continues to dip into the deep south for its 2019 recruiting class.
On Friday, UK scored verbal commitments from three-star Georgia prep defensive back Jay Ward and unrated junior-college defensive end Taures Payne, an Alabama native. Three-star Georgia prep linebacker Tra Wilkins committed to Kentucky earlier this week, giving the Wildcats four Georgia natives in its 10-man 2019 class.
Georgia was a pivotal recruiting state for much of the Rich Brooks and Joker Philips eras at Kentucky, but Mark Stoops’ staff has shifted the emphasis to Ohio since taking over in 2013.
