Tony Barbee thrilled by Nick Richards’ “not so nice” guy performance vs. Louisville

Tyrese Maxey was Kentucky’s leading scorer vs. Louisville, but Nick Richards’ performance was the most promising development for the Cats. The junior big man had 13 points and 10 rebounds vs. the No. 3 Cards, his first double-double against a ranked opponent in his three seasons in Lexington. In 20 games prior against ranked foes, Richards averaged only 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. When you add in a game-high 11 drawn fouls and seven straight points in overtime, Richards more than rose to the occasion and was awarded with Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week and SEC Player of the Week honors, both career firsts.
