The Kentucky men’s basketball team has arrived in Las Vegas, officially touching down late Thursday evening for its appearance in the annual CBS Sports Classic. It’s an event the Wildcats have been a part of since 2014.
Kentucky itself is good to go, no issues whatsoever. The team’s opponent? That remains to be seen. In fact, we don’t even officially know who UK’s opponent will be just one day before tip-off.
Ohio State withdrew from the event Thursday afternoon after the Buckeyes saw multiple positive COVID-19 results within the program. Almost immediately, though, CBS Sports Classic officials began working with UK Athletics to find a new opponent on short notice to ensure the event would not be canceled entirely.
