To land Orlando Antigua and Chin Coleman from Illinois, Kentucky had to pay big

LEXINGTON – To complete the makeover of John Calipari’s Kentucky basketball staff this offseason, UK had to make a substantial financial investment.

New assistant coach Orlando Antigua will be paid $850,000 next season. New assistant coach Ron “Chin” Coleman will be paid $450,000. Those salaries combine for $450,000 more than what UK paid Tony Barbee and Joel Justus, the two coaches they replaced, last season.

Antigua’s salary will increase by $25,000 per year for each of the three years of his contract, culminating in a $900,000 salary for the 2023-24 season. Coleman’s salary will increase by $50,000 per year in the next three years to $550,00 in 2023-24.
