The index finger and pinky are unassuming digits, yet used in a certain way can create the most vile and offensive hand gesture in all of college football. This fall in the Big 12, those two fingers could get teams in hot water, potentially even forcing an official to penalize a team 15 yards.
The Big 12 kicked off talking season Thursday morning with coordinator of officials Greg Burks taking the podium at the conference’s media days. Halfway through his presentation, the league’s lead official was asked if the notorious Horns Down symbol will be a penalty in the fall of 2021.
