The NCAA has announced that the Texas A&M Aggies’ football program has been placed on a one-year probation, and head coach Jimbo Fisher was given a six-month show-cause order.
This comes after the NCAA found Fisher and the Aggies violated NCAA recruiting and athletic-related activity rules.
The NCAA says the violations occurred between January 2018 and February 2019 and included Fisher and an assistant coach had “impermissible contact with a recruit.” That coach was later identified as Jay Graham, who now is with Tennessee.
After a resolution between Texas A&M and the NCAA Level II-mitigated penalties were agreed upon.
