Tamar Bates commits to Indiana

Tamar Bates, a four-star shooting guard in the 2021 class, has committed to the Indiana Hoosiers. He was previously contacted by Kentucky back in late March.

A consensus top-60 recruit, Bates recently got a release from his national letter of intent with the Texas Longhorns after Shaka Smart left for Marquette. Once that happened, Kentucky, Gonzaga and Illinois were among the schools to reach out before Indiana won out.

Originally from Kansas City (MO), the 6-5 Bates plays for IMG Academy in Florida. He is currently ranked as No. 56 overall, according to the 247 Composite Rankings, but is expected to get a bump when the final rankings are released.
