Stevie Johnson injury update; Needs knee surgery

Former Kentucky Wildcats wide receiver Stevie Johnson had a major scare this weekend after leaving Chargers practice with a knee injury.

Johnson, now entering his ninth NFL season, went down with a non-contact injury Sunday before being carried of San Diego's practice field. It looked like it might be serious enough to be of the season-ending variety, but it looks like Johnson may have avoided that.

According to Mike Silver of the NFL Network, Johnson suffered a torn meniscus that will require surgery.

I'm told by a source familiar with Chargers WR Stevie Johnson's knee injury that he has a torn meniscus & will have surgery soon @nflnetwork

At this point I'm told it's unclear whether knee surgery for a torn meniscus will end Chargers WR Stevie Johnson's season

Though a torn meniscus is a serious injury, it's not typically of the season-ending variety.
