South Carolina retains Frank Martin with a two-year contract extension

Frank Martin is here to stay.

Friday morning the South Carolina Board of Trustees approved a two-year contract extension for the Gamecocks’ head basketball coach that will keep him in Columbia through 2025. Martin will earn $3.3 million over the final two seasons. The move lowers his buyout after next season to $3 million and it is completely eliminated in the final two years of the deal.

Martin’s seat was awfully toasty after the Gamecocks finished his ninth season with a 6-15 record, just 4-12 in SEC play. Since he took South Carolina to the Final Four in 2017 the Gamecocks have finished better than one game over .
