Smoke Fills Louisville Skies After Apparent Plane Crash

Related Topics: Louisville

The skies are dark in South Louisville. The smoke from an apparent plane crash has filled the air and it is spreading across the city.

A shelter-in-place order has been put in effect for all those within a 5-mile radius. It has been expanded northbound to the Ohio River. People are being instructed to avoid the smoke from the incident. The airport has been temporarily closed.

Details are sparse at this time. From what I can gather from reports, a UPS plane crashed into a nearby warehouse. There are injuries as officials respond to the action.

Mayor Craig Greenberg shared on WLKY that the UPS cargo plane heading for Hawaii had 280,000 gallons’ worth of fuel.
