It is absolutely fair to say that the transfer portal has changed college basketball. The numbers are truly staggering. In 2021, 1,687 Division I men’s basketball players entered the portal. Then, in 2022, 1,649 elected to transfer. This season, we have already surpassed 1,400 entrants. To put those numbers in perspective, over 20% of all Division I scholarship players have entered the transfer portal this season.
