The full comment, made to Terry Meiners on Meiners’ radio show, was, “You know, Terry, whether it’s Duke last month or whether it’s now us this month, these type of comments —you know, we’re here to build up the image of college basketball, not tear people down.”
Of course, Pitino was talking about John Calipari and some of Calipari’s recent comments. We’ll hear plenty more about the coaches’ back-and-forth in the coming days — including a possible rebuttal from Cal during tomorrow’s pre-draft teleconference — but I’m here right now to make sure you all get your laugh out of Pitino saying he is building up the image of college basketball.
