To move forward, Rick Pitino had to make penance with his past. Hired to be Iona’s next basketball coach over the weekend, he shared on WFAN how he has changed since he was fired by Louisville in 2017 and what lessons he’s learned from the experience.
“What have I learned? I wish I could say I would have hired different people, but I did my due diligence. I checked all those people out,” Pitino told Moose and Maggie. “So I think what I learned mostly, and I didn’t do a good job of… excuses I always believe are a sign of weakness.
