REPORT: Dean Hood to be named head coach at Murray State

Kentucky special teams coordinator Dean Hood has reportedly accepted the head coaching job at Murray State.

According to FootballScoop.com, Hood will replace former Murray State head coach Mitch Stewart, who was not retained on Nov. 23.

Hood spent 13 years at Eastern Kentucky University, including eight seasons as the team’s head coach from 2008-15. During his time in Richmond, the Colonels went 55-38 with two Ohio Valley Conference championships and three trips to the FCS playoffs.

Before EKU, Hood spent seven years (2001-07) as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Wake Forest and his defensive units were known for creating turnovers and scoring touchdowns.
