PJ’s way of honoring his grandmother, Susie Tucker, who is battling breast cancer.
I spoke with PJ’s mother, Sherry, who said this isn’t her mother’s first run with cancer. In 2013, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and overcame it a year later, just two months before Sherry’s father passed away. A few months ago, Susie, who lives in Memphis, Tennessee, had a mastectomy and is now finishing up chemotherapy.
“She watches PJ’s games faithfully,” Sherry said. “She’s never been to a game at Rupp, so we’re hoping she feels better soon so we can bring her to one.
