The Kentucky Derby is steeped in tradition through 149 years of the iconic horse race. This year a legend from another sport is helping start the Fastest Two Minutes in Sports.
Two-time Super Bowl Champion Patrick Mahomes took center stage last week at the NFL Draft in Kansas City. On Saturday he will be back in the spotlight in the city of Louisville. Before the race begins, Mahomes will call “Riders Up!” giving the jockeys the green light to take their mounts.
He will not be the first NFL signal-caller to pass along a different kind of signal.
