University of Kentucky softball ranked No. 17 in the country, started the season strong on Friday afternoon after defeating their first two opponents at the 2023 NFCA Lead-Off Classic in Clearwater, Florida. To start off the tournament, the ‘Cats took on the St. John’s Red Storm.
Sophomore pitcher, Alexia Lacatena, took to the mound for Kentucky against St. John’s after the UK went down early 3-0 after the first inning. The New Jersey native came in for relief and pitched a total of 3.2 innings where she only allowed two hits and no runs scored.
