It’s a dark, gloomy, evening, cold by California standards – somewhere in the upper 40’s. The winds that whip through the pristine high school campus, tucked in the San Fernando Valley, make it seem even colder.
Inside the high school’s gym a game tips off, with no more than a few hundred fans in stands, there to celebrate “Senior Night” for the girl’s basketball team. Yet while the girl’s game goes on indoors and in relative anonymity, outside the masses begin to line up.
