The NCAA Tournament selection committee has a list of criteria they follow each year before finalizing the bracket on Selection Sunday. Exactly how teams are seeded where will be changed for the 2021 tournament.
In previous years geography played a significant role in where teams were placed. It’s why Duke and North Carolina often opened the tournament playing somewhere in the state of North Carolina. Since the entire tournament will be played in the state of Indiana, the geography component of seeding is being thrown out the window.
This year the selection committee will seed teams on the S-curve.
