NCAA president Charlie Baker has revealed that the NCAA Tournament could expand to as many as 76 teams by the 2026 tournament.
“That would be the goal, to try and do this for next year,” Baker told David Rumsey of Front Office Sports. “We’ve been talking about 72 and 76.”
The current version of the NCAA Tournament includes 68 teams. The tournament last expanded 14 years ago in 2011.
NCAA president Charlie Baker said one of his top priorities here at the Big 12 spring meetings was to discuss expanding March Madness, which could come in 2026.
