More on Ashton Hagans and Kentucky’s second half meltdown

As we are all painfully aware, Kentucky blew a 17-point second-half lead vs. Tennessee last night. Since then, some interesting information has come out that may shed light on why it happened.

Kentucky was up 11 at halftime, and 26 seconds in to the second half, Ashton Hagans picked up his third foul, a charge, and went to the bench. During that stretch, Kentucky pushed the lead to 17 points and a caller into the KSR Postgame Show witnessed a tense exchange between Hagans and John Calipari on the bench. Calipari wanted to sub Hagans back in, but the sophomore refused, saying that Cal would only take him out again, which prompted Calipari to tell him, “Either go back in the game or go to the locker room.
