CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In his final act as a Kentucky football player, Lynn Bowden finally beat a team with his arm.
Facing 1st-and-10 at the Virginia Tech 19-yard line with 19 seconds remaining and a timeout in hand, Bowden, the Southeastern Conference's leading rusher, completed a pass to the end zone to junior wide receiver Josh Ali for a go-ahead touchdown. The play capped a 18-play drive that lasted more than eight minutes.
UK outside linebacker Jordan Wright then returned a fumble for a touchdown on the final play as Virginia Tech tried to score on a lateral to give Kentucky a 37-30 victory.
