The Kentucky women’s basketball team got itself a winner, and her name is Jordy Griggs.
The Cats’ lone incoming freshman for next season concluded her high school career in style on Saturday, boosting her Montverde (FL) Academy squad to win its second-straight GEICO National Championship. The win wasn’t easy, either. Montverde overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat Long Island Lutheran 60-54.
Although Griggs wasn’t the star of the show — she finished with two points, three rebounds, and one assist in 10 minutes played — it’s impressive she even made the cast. Griggs’ Montverde squad is jam-packed with several Division I commits.
