Kentucky Remained Resilient Despite Early 13-Point Deficit

“I was really proud of our team, because I think that, they just, something clicked, the switch went off and really gelled the past couple weeks and we worked hard at that,” Mark Stoops said after the game. “We felt good tonight.”

It didn’t click right away. Rakeem Boyd ripped off a 74-yard touchdown on the second play of the game. Kentucky’s offense put its defense in a pickle when the Cats failed to convert a fourth down, setting up an easy field goal for the Hogs. Their next drive was a 10-play march down the field that resulted in another field goal.
