Kentucky makes the switch at QB, plans to start Drew Barker

Will Barker turn around the offense in time to make a bowl?

Facing yet another late season slide, Kentucky is turning over its offense to redshirt freshman Drew Barker. The freshman will make his first career start at home against Charlotte, as Kentucky attempts to halt its five game skid and take a step closer to qualifying for a bowl.

Barker has appeared in the last three games, completing 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Junior quarterback Patrick Towles, the incumbent starter, sent out this tweet supporting the decision following the news:

Can't wait to see @D_Barker7 ball out on Saturday!
