Kentucky football hires Georgia State assistant Chris Collins as defensive backs coach

LEXINGTON - Mark Stoops has his new defensive backs coach.

Stoops hired Georgia State assistant Chris Collins, who coached safeties for the last four seasons for the Panthers, to fill the final opening on his 2021 Kentucky football staff. Collins also served as Georgia State's recruiting coordinator since 2019. He made previous coaching stops Catawba College and Western Carolina, his alma mater.

In 2018, he participated in the American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute.

"Going through the hiring process for this job I talked to several candidates but each time I talked to Chris I came away more and more impressed with him," Stoops said in a news release.
