Kentucky men’s soccer closed out its regular season Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Georgia State in Atlanta, securing its second consecutive win and a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The Wildcats controlled the match offensively, outshooting the Panthers 22-3 while recording 12 shots on goal compared to Georgia State’s one.
Kentucky got things started in the 15th minute when Bains Smith found the back of the net off an assist from Agustin Lopez, giving the Cats an early 1-0 lead.
The goal marked Smith’s second of the season as Kentucky continued to put pressure on the Panthers’ defense.
