LEXINGTON, Ky. — The last time Kentucky high school basketball fans saw Justin Powell he was a rising star in the 2020 class set to leave Trinity for basketball prep power Montverde Academy in Florida.
A year later, Powell is back in Kentucky — now at North Oldham High School — and coming off a breakout weekend on the Nike EYBL AAU circuit. He played just a handful of games at Montverde before deciding to return home, taking him out of the recruiting spotlight while he sat out the rest of the 2018-19 season at North Oldham.
