After the NCAA decided Monday evening it would not grant an additional year of eligibility to athletes competing in winter sports, Kentucky graduate transfer Nate Sestina’s college basketball career officially came to a close.
Not long after, UK head coach John Calipari gave his now-former player a proper goodbye.
“I’m so disappointed that I’m not going to have another year to coach Nate and have him in our program. I know he’s disappointed and wanted to come back,” Calipari said of Sestina in an official statement. “He knew the chances weren’t great but that doesn’t make this hurt any less for him.
