Joel Justus says BJ Boston remains an “extreme talent”: “His story is still being written”

Coming in as a consensus top-ten recruit and potential top-five draft pick, freshman guard Brandon Boston Jr. has failed to live up to the hype to open his Kentucky career. Through 12 games, the highly-touted prospect averaged just 11.5 points per game on 34.7% shooting and 17.5% from three to go with 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest. It was a start that led to UK head coach John Calipari pulling Boston out of the starting lineup going into the team’s trip to Georgia on January 20.

The move led to Boston’s best game as a Wildcat, as the 6-foot-7 guard finished with a team-high 18 points on 9-17 shooting to go with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and just one turnover in 33 minutes of action.
