Joe Moorhead Fired by Mississippi State

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are looking for a new football coach.

After only two seasons, Joe Moorhead is packing up his office in Starkville. First reported by Brett McMurphy and confirmed by ESPN, the 2019 Egg Bowl proved to be fatal for both head coaches.

The jury appeared to still be out on Moorhead after the Bulldogs defeated the Rebels on Thanksgiving night. Miss. State had a 14-12 record during Moorhead’s tenure, but the loose seams became unhinged leading into their Music City Bowl appearance. Starting quarterback Garrett Shrader missed the game after an in-practice altercation with a defensive teammate turned into punches thrown, leaving Shrader with a broken orbital bone.
