JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Let’s start with the obvious: Kentucky probably doesn’t need PJ Washington to beat Abilene Christian tonight.
Anything can happen in sports, OK, but this game on paper is a mismatch against the kind of undersized and outgunned opponent that probably wouldn’t lure a packed house to Rupp Arena in December.
So maybe Kentucky is just being careful because it can. Maybe the Wildcats’ leading scorer and leading rebounder is just taking it easy with plans to return for Saturday’s second-round game.
