How the proposed NCAA transfer changes could affect Kentucky basketball and football

LEXINGTON - Radical change could be coming to the transfer process in college sports.

On Tuesday, the NCAA’s transfer working group recommended athletes in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football and men’s ice hockey be allowed to transfer once without sitting out a year, as athletes in all other NCAA sports are allowed to do. The proposal must still be approved by the full Division I Council to be adopted.

The move would serve as a solution to an inconsistent series of waiver decisions in recent years in which the NCAA allowed some high-profile transfers to play immediately at their new schools while denying others.
