How Beau Allen, John Young and other early enrollees can help Kentucky football in 2020

LEXINGTON – With the spring semester starting Wednesday, the Kentucky football program is expected to welcome a dozen new players to campus this week.

Of Kentucky’s 21 December signees in the 2020 recruiting class, 11 were listed as mid-year enrollees by UK. By graduating in time to enroll for Kentucky's spring semester, those players can participate in spring practice in March. Auburn transfer Joey Gatewood is also expected to arrive at UK this week.

Here is a closer look at the Wildcats’ planned mid-year enrollees and how they might help the 2020 team.

After playing in seven games at Auburn last fall before deciding to transfer, Gatewood, a former top-50 recruit, could compete for UK’s starting quarterback spot or serve as the primary backup to Terry Wilson if granted a waiver by the NCAA to play immediately in 2020.
