Heartbreak in fall camp: Fan favorite WR out for the season

The optimism of Fall Camp turned painful last week when Kentucky football learned that senior wide receiver Cole Lanter would miss the entire 2025 season. The Boyle County native went down with a non-contact injury during Fan Day scrimmage, and Mark Stoops confirmed the heartbreaking news on Saturday.

For fans, the loss stings beyond football. Lanter represents everything the program prides itself on—perseverance, work ethic, and loyalty. Arriving in 2022 as a preferred walk-on, he fought tooth and nail for every snap. By 2023, he earned a scholarship through sheer grit and his never say die attitude.
