Although Hamidou Diallo has yet to log a single minute as a college basketball player, he is already turning some heads. Earlier today, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the watch lists for their yearly guard award categories. The Jerry West Award is for the best shooting guard in the country, and Diallo is one of the 20 names on the preseason watch list.
Malik Monk took home the trophy in 2017 and was the first Kentucky player to ever win since the awards inception in 2014.
Diallo is still considered a freshman, although he enrolled in Kentucky in January of this year.
