Former Kentucky basketball point guard Devin Askew commits to Texas

LEXINGTON - Devin Askew did not need to wait long to find his next college.

Just more than one week after announcing his transfer from Kentucky, Askew committed to Texas Tuesday. The news was first reported by 247Sports national basketball analyst Travis Branham.

"I chose Texas because coach (Chris) Beard and his coaching staff are completely invested into their players and player development," Askew told 247Sports. "They have also watched film on my game and see that my playing style and abilities will thrive in their program."

Beard was recently hired by Texas after compiling a 111-55 record in five seasons at Texas Tech with one Final Four appearance.
