Florida fired head coach Billy Napier on Sunday, less then 24 hours after the Gators defeated Mississippi State 23-21.
Fans booed Napier, even after last night’s win.
Napier was 22-23 in four seasons at Florida, including 12-16 in SEC play.
The university officially announced the decision this afternoon:
Statement from Athletic Director Scott Stricklin:
Today I met with Coach Napier and informed him that a change in leadership of our football program would best serve the interests of the University of Florida. On behalf of Gator Nation, I want to sincerely thank Billy and his family for their tireless commitment to the Florida Gators.
