Flashback Friday: The Last Time UK Won at Tennessee

It has been 36 years since the Kentucky Wildcats have won a football game in Knoxville. UK’s 1984 season finale ended with a bang.

Kentucky punched Tennessee in the mouth on the first play of the game. David Thompson forced a fumble to put the Cats in scoring position. George Adams punched the ball into the end zone a few plays later and the Cats never looked back. Kentucky upended the 7-2 Vols 17-12 to seal a spot in the Hall of Fame Game.

Kentucky’s players celebrated by hoisting Jerry Claibourne onto their shoulders and carrying the victorious head coach off the field.
