A blind man could see the biggest reason why Kentucky lost to Tennessee. The Wildcats turned the ball over three times. It’s hard to win on the road, especially at Neyland Stadium, when you’re -3 in the turnover column. That doesn’t tell the entire story.
Tennessee made explosive plays. Kentucky did not.
The Vols gained nearly half their offensive output on five plays for 189 yards. Two of those plays were touchdowns. On the other side of the line of scrimmage, Kentucky had only two plays for 20+ yards. When the Wildcats dialed up a deep shot to Kenny Darby, the same one that worked to perfection at Texas A&M, Kenny Minchey was intercepted, just his second pick of the season.
