The biggest question mark on Brad White’s defense is in his own position room. Following the departure of Boogie Watson, Jordan Wright and J.J. Weaver are the only returners with any experience on the edge. Arguably the most difficult and important position in the Wildcats’ 3-4 defense, much of UK’s continued success hinges on Weaver’s status entering the 2021 season.
A four-star recruit in 2019 from Louisville Moore High School, Weaver was developing into a star in 2020. Unfortunately, his redshirt freshman season ended prematurely when he suffered a torn ACL at Florida. There’s never a good time for a knee injury, but November might be the worst time for one, potentially jeopardizing his availability to play in 2021.
