ESPN will air the 1966 Kentucky/Texas Western game Wednesday night

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1966 Kentucky/Texas Western National Championship game, and to commemorate it, ESPN will air the game in its entirety Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. John Saunders and Jay Bilas will host a pregame, halftime, and postgame show, and will be joined by Michael Wilbon, who will provide his views and additional historical context.

Texas Western’s win over Kentucky is considered a watershed moment in the sport because it was the first time in NCAA history that a team started five black players in a championship game. ESPN’s 90-minute presentation will feature the audio call of Walt Sullivan and will contain every basket that took place inside Cole Field House in College Park, Maryland on March 19, 1966.
