Dr. Fauci promotes fan-free return for professional sports this summer

The debate over when it’s safe for sports to resume rages on, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the leading experts on the coronavirus, has outlined a plan for a fan-free return for professional sports this summer.

In an interview with Snapchat’s Peter Hamby, Dr. Fauci said he believes pro sports can come back as long as there are no fans in the stands and players quarantine themselves in hotels and are tested weekly.

“There’s a way of doing that. Nobody comes to the stadium. Put [the players] in big hotels, wherever you want to play, keep them very well surveilled and have them tested every single week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their family, and just let them play the season out.
