Current, former Kentucky Wildcats set to compete at USA Track & Field Championships

The USA Track & Field Championships start today in Eugene, Oregon, and Kentucky Blue definitely got in. Seven current athletes, nine former Cats, and a volunteer assistant coach will be in action at Hayward Field this weekend. The top three finishers in each event will qualify to compete for Team USA at the World Athletics Championships July 15-24.

Here’s the list of current and former Cats participating. Sydney McLaughlin, Keni Harrison, and Abby Steiner are the obvious stars.

Men

  • Keaton Daniel – pole vault
  • Brian Faust – 400m
  • Josh Sobota – shot put
  • Christian Coleman (UK volunteer coach, UT alum) – 100m, 200m
  • Daniel Roberts (UK Class of 2019) – 110m hurdles

Women

  • Jade Gates – hammer throw
  • Alexis Holmes – 400m
  • Masai Russell – 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles
  • Abby Steiner – 200m
  • Chloe Abbott (UKTF 2018-2020) – 400m
  • Celera Barnes (UK Class of 2021) – 100m
  • Dezerea Bryant (UK Class of 2015) – 100m, 200m
  • Olivia Gruver (UKTF 2015-2018) – pole vault
  • Keni Harrison (UK Class of 2015) – 100m hurdles
  • Sydney McLaughlin (UKTF 2017-2018) – 400m hurdles
  • Javianne Oliver (UK Class of 2017) – 100m
  • Sha’Keela Saunders (UK Class of 2017) – long jump

The meet begins on Thursday at 7:50 PM ET for the Wildcats with the 400m hurdles first round and concludes Sunday with the men’s 110m hurdles final at 5:54 PM.
