College basketball got weird this week (and it wasn't just Zion's shoe)

Zion Williamson's shoe breaking during the UNC-Duke game (we'll get to that in a minute) wasn't the only highly unusual college basketball incident that happened Wednesday night.

And what happened at the University of Georgia shouldn't be overlooked because it highlighted a vulnerability in the sport's rules that could be exploited.

Mississippi State beat Georgia 68-67 in Athens, making a free throw with 0.5 seconds left to provide the winning margin.

This was after a technical foul had been called against UGA as a result of a spectator throwing a stuffed bulldog onto the court, presumably to protest the foul call in the game's final second that originally sent MSU's Quinndary Weatherspoon to the line with the scored tied.
