Capacity at Rupp Arena to be limited for 2020-21 Kentucky basketball season

LEXINGTON — Attendance at Rupp Arena for Kentucky basketball games will be capped at no more than 15% capacity this season, according to a letter sent to elected officials.

The letter signed by UK president Eli Capiouto informed those officials they would not be able to purchase single-game or season tickets as in the past, due to crowd restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Based on current CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidance and the Kentucky Department of Public Health’s directives, indoor sports can only have a 15% maximum capacity," Capliouto wrote. "This will not permit us to extend the normal offers this season.
