Following Kentucky’s loss to Louisville on December 26, John Calipari raised eyebrows by telling reporters he didn’t play Dontaie Allen in the second half – despite the team desperately needing a scoring punch to spark the offense – that he doesn’t put players in the game if they didn’t play in the first half.
With the team off to a 1-6 start at the time, Calipari said he was simply “(coaching) the game to win.”
“There were two times I thought about putting him in, once in the first half, which, I wish I would have because I would have been able to play him in the second half,” he said.
