Bryce Hopkins’ father discusses son’s growth, preparing for freshman campaign at UK

John Calipari and the Kentucky coaching staff may have shifted the majority of their recruiting efforts to the transfer portal to close out the 2021-22 roster with a few select pieces, but they’ve already signed three top-50 high school prospects, along with bringing in two new prized transfer additions to establish a strong foundation going into next season.

One of the signed, sealed and delivered newcomers? Four-star forward Bryce Hopkins, who chose the Wildcats over offers from Louisville, Wisconsin, DePaul, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Notre Dame and Providence, among others.

Following a standout campaign that saw Hopkins take home My Suburban Life Player of the Year and MaxPreps Illinois Player of the Year honors, the Kentucky signee’s father, Clyde, sat down with KSR to discuss the future Wildcat’s day-to-day schedule, his excitement to play at UK, other potential additions and more.
