BREAKING: NCAA grants spring athletes additional year of eligibility, winter sports officially excluded

This evening, the NCAA announced it would not be granting an additional year of eligibility for athletes competing in winter sports.

“Winter sports were not included in the decision,” the official release stated. “Council members declined to extend eligibility for student-athletes in sports where all or much of their regular seasons were completed.”

The Division I Council did, however, vote Monday to allow schools to provide spring-sport student-athletes including baseball and softball an additional season of eligibility.
