Bill Walton casually said on the air last night that he auditioned to play Chewbacca in “Star Wars” back in the day.
Dave Pasch pressed Walton a few times until he finally admitted that he auditioned for the part.
Walton ended up says he did try out for the part but wasn’t chosen. However, he added that they modeled the Chewbacca character after him:

Bill finally says that he “auditioned” to play Chewbacca, but they modeled the character after him.
